DocLang format (.dclg.xml, .xml)

The DocLang format reads and writes DocLang, the LF AI & Data open standard for AI-native documents, pinned to spec v0.6. It maps .dclg.xml into the neokapi content model plus the structural layer (SemanticRole, GeometryAnnotation, LayoutLayer). This is the file-based "consume Docling" boundary: a tool runs Docling, emits DocLang, and neokapi reads it.

Coverage (v0.6): the document root + head; the block-level semantic elements (heading, text, footnote, page_header, page_footer, code, formula); lists (with ldiv-delimited items); groups; OTSL table/index cells (fcel, ched, rhed, ecel, srow, corn) with nl row terminators; the element-head properties layer and the 4-value location block (mapped to page geometry); and inline formatting (bold, italic, underline, strikethrough, superscript, subscript).

Not yet mapped (skipped without losing surrounding content): OTSL span continuations (lcel/ucel/xcel), picture/field/marker/checkbox constructs, and thread/xref/href continuity.

Processing notes

  • Disambiguated from generic XML by a content sniff for the <doclang tag and a below-default format priority, so a plain .xml never resolves to DocLang when the sniff misses.

Limitations

  • OTSL span continuations (lcel/ucel/xcel) and picture/field/marker/checkbox constructs are skipped (surrounding content is preserved).
