Install and manage plugins

Goal: add new formats and tools to a project from Kapi Desktop, for example the kapi-sat segmenter for ML sentence segmentation or the kapi-pdfium PDF reader. The plugin manager does what kapi plugin install does on the command line. For how plugins work, see Plugins.

Steps

  1. Open the plugin manager. From Settings → Plugins, browse the registry of available plugins: format readers and writers, segmenters, OCR and ASR engines, and tool packs.
  2. Install. Click Install on a plugin (for example the kapi-sat segmenter). The app downloads and verifies it, then registers the formats and tools it adds.
  3. Use it immediately. New formats appear in the project's content view, and new tools appear in the palette under Toolbox → Flows, ready to run against the project's content. Opening a file whose format needs a plugin offers to install it there and then.
  4. Keep current. The manager flags updates; one click pulls the latest version.

What the desktop adds

You see what a plugin adds before you install it, the app verifies the download, and the new formats and tools appear in the editor at once. The plugins and the registry are the same ones the CLI uses.
